Alright just to warn you guys, this post is entirely about
camp, so you don have to read it if you get too bored
Okay so i know you people are dying to hear from me, so here
it is.
CAMP
Most of you should know this, but on monday-wednesday i was
at Camp Summit
in Squamish. I had the time of my life there and the only thing i regret about
it was that i couldn't spend that time with my grade 6 friends..... you know
who you are.
Day 1 (this will be alot more detailed and clear than
stephen's journal thingy) (this may not be in order)
It took us nearly 2 hours to get from quilchena to Camp
Summit. When we arrived there, we
actually arrived at Camp Squamish,
by accident. We had to put all our bags back into the bus and ride to Camp
Summit, which was litterally within
walking distance of Camp Squamish.
So we were assigned out tents and stuff by gender. The gang (all nine of them:
Robin, Ian, Keval, Mark, Mark, Scott, Scott, Jay, Johnny) was in Tantalus (the
tent name), the rest of the guys (8 of us) were in Attwell, Sonia, Da-In, Tina,
Shabnam, and Shirley (rae was also supposed to be part of that tent group, but
she wasn't there) were in like....clouddust or something.... and the rest of
the girls were in somethingsomething. Oh yea Ms. Boston, Ms. Grunfeld, and Ms.
Ward were in a tent of their own, complete with a couch and actual light. So we
played some games there, like Sword in the Stone, Tanks, Squirt Guns, GaGa
Ball, and TetherBall, which i won every single game in. Everyone was divided
into 3 activity groups. My group included Scott, Scott, Sonia, Jay, Johnny,
Jenny, Jee-Yeon, and Alfred. Our leader was Admiral (James), who by far was the
coolest councillor there. Our activity group name was Gluteus Maximus, which is
the scientific name for the Butt Muscles. We first did Archery, and Ms. Ward
was the only person there to hit a bulls-eye on the target. We did this
tournament thing where our group was divided into three groups and we had to
see who could get the most points. My Group had Johny and Sonia in it, and we
pretended that Johnny was Legolas, Sonia was this Inuyasha character, i
was.....me. Our group name was the Fellowship, and we had the most points
(other than the one-person Ms. Ward team). Man, Ms. ward is like a huntress.
Anyhow, next we did some Initiative games, where we tried to cooperate together
and accomplish a task. First we had to line up on a rope and without speaking,
order ourselves from oldest to youngest. Then we had to cross these stepping
stones with wooden planks and we couldn't touch the ground, or we'd all have to
start over again. If the wooden planks touched the ground for too long, they
would be taken away, too. I wonder what would happen if all the planks were
taken away.... And i won't even bother explaining that third activity in
Initiative Games. Before dinner we played Stones, and the Green Team (Tantalus
and the Alice-group) won by...well how ever many stones there are. The meals
there included fries, hot dogs, pizzas, soups, cereals, 3 types of juices,
salads, eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, fruits, sandwiches (larry tried to order all
the sandwiches there, which was like 100), and more wonderful stuff. After dinner
we got more free time and stuff... and we had a campfire.... During the night
we all hung by the the swing and talked and dared each other to do things...
like Scott K kissing Alice on the
lips and Mark chewing grass.. we also played tag in our pajamas in the field at
around like 10:00 and that was
frigging fun. In our tent, stephen kept keeping everyone awake with his farts
and snores and bullshit about sylvia... oh yea and frank wouldn't shut up about
Larry sneaking off in the middle of the night and finding sonia so he could
sleep with her. Oh yea and he keeps singing "you're beautiful" by
James Blunthead. There were fireworks on the second night and Frank was
convinced someone was celebrating the marriage of Sonia and Larry.
Day 2
Some idiot woke me up at like 6:30
and i couldn't get back to sleep after that... plus the rain was pounding on
our tent so everyone woke up soon after. There was an optional Polar Bear Swim
in the morning, but who ever wanted to take a swim could simply stand outside
in their swim suits. Yes, it was raining that hard. Fortuneatly, it cleared up
so we could continue our activities. After breakfast, we did these low ropes
courses where we had to balance on ropes and stuff and move from one point to
another. It was actually pretty cool and challenging. Congratulations to Johnny
who did every single one blindfolded. Then we got to ride the Giant Swing that
was supposedly the best part of camp. It was attached to two 40 ft tall poles
and everyone had to put on a complicated series of harnesses to ensure
afety? Then someone was attached to the chain and hoisted up like a meter
below the height of the poles. The coolest (and scariest) part about the giant
swing was that you got to decide when to hit the ill switch?or when to start
falling back to the ground. Some people didn hesitate, and some people did,
and some people even had trouble pulling the switch. Well the scary part stops
after you pull the switch and after the first fall? So all in all, the giant
swing was pretty fun, but I still liked mountain biking and archery more. After
lunch we began Mountain Biking, which was tres fun (using Tuna word there).
We were equipped with tanks (bikes) and battle armour (shin guards and
helmets). The trails were pretty muddy, which increased the fun and challenge,
but the cool part was that we got to go on these wooden bridges and planks, and
teetor-totters and stuff on the bikes. Then we did mountain climbing, but
instead of climbing up we had to climb sideways on a makeshift wall. It was
pretty challenging and fun, and in the end we were set some challenges to try
out, like start climbing in a sit down position, or use only specific
handholds. After dinner we played the most amazing game of capture the
flag/stones ever. It was called?Cones! lol same rules as capture the flag,
except we played it?in the forest!! It was yellow VS green again, with the guy
councilors on the Green Team and the Female councilors on the Yellow Team. The
cones were hidden in trees, bushes, out of sight behind a building, and stuff
like that. Yellow team captured 3 out of 4 cones (one of them mine), and Green
team captured only 1 of them (Ian). Thus, we won =D. Then each tent group was
given a bag full of clothes and had to come up with a skit that used up all the
clothes. So we had to perform first, and our skit was about two customers
(frank and Alfred) that go to a circus, and the feature presentation of the
circus was the Freakishly Freaky Freaks. Jack was supposed to be someone who
enjoyed dressing up as a woman, Stephen was a monster who wore a flowered hat
and hat a mouth for a hand, Martin was a superman-wannabe and wore goggles and
a flying hat, Kyle was this guy who didn know how to dress properly. Finally,
Larry came in with a tuxedo and pretended to be this dancer-crazed guy, and he
fell, so I asked the audience (frank and Alfred) if they enjoyed the show, and
they chased me out of the arena (not literally). The next one was about?well
it was too boring to describe, but alice
group did something about some people going to the bar? Yea. The best skit of
all (I think many people have to agree on this) was Tantalus. Keval, Scott K,
Mark P, and Jay dressed up as old grannies while Johnny (Chinese mafia), Scott,
robin, Mark N, and Ian pretended to be angsters?who attacked the grannies.
The grannies turned out to know karate or something and kicked the gangsters?
tush outta their household. Oh yea, scott k gave birth to a?chicken. Mmmhmm.
Anyhow, the other girls?performance was pretty boring. Yea and after the
campfire we had more night-time fun?which I explained before.
Day 3
I had a much better sleep on Tuesday, mostly because it
wasn raining and I was like the first to wake up (in other words, I didn
have to kill anyone for waking me up). So we basically played alotta games and
stuff before going back on the bus. I won bore you (if I haven done so
already) with details about the bus ride back?.
